Encouraging children to eat a healthy diet early on in life is so important for encouraging a healthy relationship with food. The earlier we learn what foods are good and bad for us the more likely we are going to make good food choices for the rest of our lives.
Here’s 3 ways you can encourage your children to make the right food choices early on with our healthy eating tips and recipes.
1 | Let them pick and prepare ingredients
Teaching your children to eat healthy is all about getting them to chose ingredients in the supermarket. Go down the fruit and veg aisle and ask which fruits and veggies they would like to put in the basket. Once you’ve got your ingredients back home, pick a healthy, balanced Exante recipe together and let them help you prepare everything in the kitchen.
All our recipes are nutritionally balanced, low in calories and carbs, and are low in sugars and salt. Not only is this perfect for your weight loss (and maybe your partner) but suitable for your little ones too!
2 | Allow healthy snacks
Kids love snacks, so don’t deny them this little treat. Keeping treats forbidden makes them more appealing and encourage your child to develop an unhealthy relationship with food. Instead, allow treats now and again, but also introduce them to healthy snacks. We’ve got a great Hummus Dippers recipe which is a perfect way of turning those veggies your little one picked into dipping sticks!
