Smells revolting, tastes revolting, texture is revolting. It is really cheesy and the texture is way too thick. Couldnt even finish it
This really isn’t the best. Doesn’t taste nice at all. Has a very unpleasant smell which put me off before I had even tried. Even tried adding black pepper and garlic and still didn’t make it pleasant
Very watery , flavour far from carbonara. Taste floury and needs something more in order to enjoy it. I’ve tried added garlic and pepper but it’s just unpalatable.
I think it was the first meal, other than shakes, soups and bars, produced by Exante and it could be improved. It benefits from some tweaking as it the flavour isn't great on its own. I use part of my 200 extra calories on a few sliced button mushrooms or half a red pepper which I cook with a little Frylight in a small saucepan, then add 300ml cold water and the carbonara mix and stir. You may want to add more or less water, depending how you like it. Once it is nearly done I add some chopped parsley or chives and plenty of freshly ground black pepper. I've also sprinkled a few bacon bits through it.
As I love conventional Carbonara, I thought this would be a great choice for a meal replacement. I didn't have overly high hopes for the taste, the same as all the evening meal replacements, however, for me this was inedible. It had such a horrible taste, all I could taste was a horrible powder, nothing else and nothing remotely carbonara like. I would not recommend to purchase. Everything else I have tried so far though has been just fine, so don't let this put you off other products.
I ordered this before and thought I liked it but after eating again it isnt very good. Edible but the suace is really weirdly thick and has this weird powder after taste. Doesnt taste like carbonara at all. Need to make the sauce a bit less thick, maybe add less cheese? Idk but it wasnt good, still edible but don't enjoy it.
The carbonara is really tasty. Love the pasta bits aswell as it makes you feel more full.
This meal is too strong, it needs a reduction in cheese flavouring and onion powder. It actually made me feel like I’d had a takeaway! I managed to eat it with more water, dill and chervil but it needs to change before I order more 😕
Exante products are brilliant. This one however has been my least favourite of them all. Had a strange smell of bananas and didn’t taste remotely like a carbonara sauce.
Honestly it’s terrible. It’s the only meal so far that I haven’t been able to finish. I’ve done it as required, and I’ve done it as suggested by reviewers with pepper, with salt, with garlic and oil, with extra water. Nothing works. It is just subtly wrong. The aftertaste is terrible. The thing tastes like banana. I don’t know how or why, but it’s utterly awful.
